Cement production is expected to improve from 137.3 million tonnes in FY16 to reach 407 million tonnes in FY17 giving the industry a positive outlook. Budget 2016-17 has proposed a slew of measures to boost infrastructure and investment, which will be positive for the
cement sector, as increased spending on infrastructure increases the demand for cement. Incremental spend on smart city development, the government has allocated Rs 7,296 crore (US$ 1.09 billion) towards Urban Rejuvenation Mission, AMRUT and Mission for Development of 100 Smart Cities.
